7 Beautry Trends of Spring - Day 2 - DARK POUT

It's no secret that the key lipstick trend for this season is the strong, dramatic dark lip. It’s a look that was seen all over the catwalks, from shimmering deep reds to bruised purples to Bordeaux wines – hey, who doesn’t love a good red! Dark is in… Make up, lipstick, and clothes all in rich and luscious color pallets.  Chocolate-red pouts and crisp, sleek ponytails look super chic this spring paired with trouser shorts and loose-fitting frocks.

Apply the color directly from the tube for the most dramatic effect. And make sure to dust a skin-warming blush or bronzer on your cheeks to avoid getting into creepy vampire territory.  A really important thing to remember when trying out this dark lips look is blush – essential unless you want to channel the gothic look! Choose your blush wisely – using one with the same base tones as your lipstick will not only stop you from looking washed out but also helps to tie the whole look together.  If you are unsure, just brush any shade you already have on the apples of your cheeks.

With so much choice out there, it’s really important to choose the right shade for your skin tone in order to get the most out of the colour. Here are a few of my favs:

1.Covergirl Glossy Lip color in Embrace,
2.Revlon Super Lustrous  in Black Cherry,
3.Dior Addict Lipcolour in Pinstripe Plum,
4.YSL Rouge Pur Couture in 08 Belle de Rose,
5. Mac Tinted Lip glass - Rebel
6.Clinique Almost Lipstick in 06 Black Honey.

7 Beauty Trends of Spring - Day 1 - GLAM GLOW

The roaring twenties inspired the twinkly eyes and rose-petal blush by designers like Chanel.  It seems that everything old, trend-wise, is becoming new again.  I am loving the natural glowing skin and matte-toned foundations that are now available.  You want your makeup to look light and feel barely there so your natural facial features can pop.  Every woman wants beautiful flawless skin, but the reality of the matter is that not every woman is lucky enough to have even skin tones and blemish free derm.  Estée Lauder makes a gorgeous, oil-free, foundation that can help your skin flow. You can finish this natural glow off with a sweep of apricot blush over the apples of your cheeks and adding a dusting of pink in the center to create a candle-lit glow of cheek perfection.

Sammy the Snake

| Wearing | Pants: Material Girl | Top: Topshop | Shoes: Aldo | Neckalce: HRH Collection | Rings: Jewelmint and Nasty Gal |

One of the most fabulous fashion trends this Spring is reptile-prints.  I have to admit, I wasn’t completely sold on this pattern at first, but after finding the right color and print for my style, I fell in love.  I love snake purses and shoes, faux skin of course, and have finally rotated this configuration into my pant collection. Snake print is the new leopard print! Don't get me wrong leopard is still hot… but it’s definitely fun to step outside your printed comfort box, in my case leopard, and take a new fashion risk.

Keeping your color variations minimal and using delicate jewelry is key for me.  I kept my outfit balanced, and my accessories to a minimum.  Gold snake print was enough of a statement for me so I chose to keep the rest of the outfit safe with a classic black silk tank and black peep toes.  Pairing the print with all neutral tones, in the same warm palette, makes the snake print subtly blend in with its surroundings and it becomes less of a statement – for those who want to be trendy, but not over the top.

It seems appropriate to wear snake this year in collaboration with the Chinese year of the snake.  Who doesn’t love culture and history! Go ahead, embrace your inner cultural diva and try a little snake.

Classy Leopard

| Wearing | Blouse - Buffalo | Pants - J Crew | Shoes - ASOS | Belt - Aldo | Rings - Nasty Gal & Silpada |

Well it’s obvious, that I am obsessed with anything leopard print, but this blouse is by far my favorite.  The length and fit are beyond perfect for my style and long torso.  Animal print is one of the hugest trends right now and the styling possibilities are endless.  I clearly don’t have a super model figure, so the key for me is to never overdo it.  I typically go for one printed item and build around it.

Incorporating a bit of animal print into one’s wardrobe is more of a classic addition than a trend. Every fashionista must own at least a piece of this print, be it a dress, a top, a pair of shoes, a scarf, or a bag.

Leopard can have a wild connotation to it, but if you combine it with something romantic, like a pleated maxi skirt or a pair of trouser shorts, the leopard isn’t that wild anymore. You get an interesting look – it says that you can be both delicate and sexy.  If you are a fan of casual style, you can have some fun by mixing seemingly incompatible styles and prints - like leopard with floral. Wearing printed blouses with jeans is pretty common, but you can also spice it up with a pair of red skinnies or jean shorts.
