Favorite Trends - Shorts Galore

Lace and trouser shorts are everything right now. They are definitely on my list of top trends for spring and summer and I can’t seem to get enough of them. I’m a huge fan of shorts in general, but I love the fact that they are so versatile and can be worn for both formal and casual occasions.  I've always thought that lace will never go out of style. There's so much you can do with them, really and it’s just such a glamorous approach on boring every-day shorts.  I typically pair mine with an oversized blouse or tank, lots of arm candy and sky high heels. My only tip when wearing crochet or lace shorts is to be careful with what you pair them with…SOMETIMES, depending on the garment, the white ones especially, tend to look a bit like pajamas or loungers.  So make sure to pair them with something tailored and shoes other than flip flops so it doesn’t look as if you´ve just rolled out of bed!

Trouser shorts are equally major!  Instead of choosing the same dresses and skirts for office-wear, turn to stylish evening shorts to dazzle downtown with fashion know-how; or at least attempt. It’s true that a good pair of perfectly aligned/draped dress shorts are going to cost a fair bit of money (with such little material necessary to make), but keep in mind that these shorts are not a fleeting trend and will be used many times over and in SO many different ways.  The perfect fit is worth a few more dollars spent!

SHORTS ARE A FASHION FIELD OF THEIR OWN.

Favorite Trends - The SNEAKER

| Wearing: | Blouse - Top Shop | Tights - American Apparel | Shoes - Aldo | Jewelry - Stella & Dot | Watch - Michael Kors |

Let me start by saying I am OBSESSED with this season’s trend of sneaker wedges. Sneakers were once just for the gym, basketball players and 12 year old boys - but not anymore. The comfort of a shoe that protects your feet from the daily wear and tear of the streets is now considered suitable for every occasion, from a workout to the workplace.  I’ve worn mine with a loose summer frock, jeans, trouser shorts and tights… they are majorly versatile. Ever practical woman and major trendsetter seem to be wearing them.  Being the shorty that I am, wearing comfortable fab red sneakers with a little height is like the ultimate icing on the cake!!  Heels are great and all, but sometimes our wee feet get tired.  Luckily, this style is readily available at a price point we can all afford from designers like Marc Jacobs, Steve Madden or Aldo Shoe Company.  Whether you go with traditional running shoes or rock some height, the element of cool comfort can’t be beat.

Favorite Trends - The Peaked Cap

| Wearing | Trousers: Aritzia | Tee: Aritzia | Shoes: Purchased in Brazil | Hat: NY Yankees |

For the first time ever I photographed someone else for my blog.  My very stylish Scandinavian girlfriend pulls off hats, over sized pants and the casually effortless look flawlessly.  She is one of my fashion inspirations.

Weather you can catch a ball in a glove or not, baseball caps are all the rage this year.  I’ve seen many flat brimmed caps on the fashion scene paired with both casual looks and polished ensembles with heels and a blazer.  The peaked cap has proven surprisingly versatile, and who doesn’t love versatility! Best of all, a hat covers a multitude of hair sins.

Simply Pink - 2nd way to style a SKORT

| Wearing | Blouse - Smart Set | Skort - Zara | Pumps - ASOS | Watch - Michael Kors | Rings - Jewelmint and Nasty Gal |

Psst! For those fashion lovers who haven’t seen the Zara skort scattered across blogs, Instagram pages and Pinterest accounts – transitional pieces from the 90s are totally in!  What breathes new life into this old trend is the sophisticated spin on the silhouette with thigh-baring cuts, low waistlines and pointed angles. The look has been on heavy rotation for bloggers and street style perfectionist alike. Critics stand firm that this is arguably the high street chain’s hit of the season, and it’s affordable.  With the endless ways to wear and style it, it’s a worthy investment!

The Skort...

| Wearing | Shirt - Zara | Skort - Zara | Sandals -  Sam Edelman | Watch - Michael Kors c/o Fifth Avenue Jewellers | Rings - Nasty Gal and Jewelmint |

Here it is… the infamous Zara “blogger skort”.  It seems like every blogger and their dog own this skirt, most have it in white, and it was definitely one of my more favored summer purchases.  It is so easy to wear and goes with pretty much everything.   The best part about it… it’s a skirt in the front but is actually a pair of dress shorts.  I styled this skort two ways (next post will be next week) and this first look is cool and casual.  I paired it with flat sandals and an oversized white tee for playing around with my puppy and doing my Saturday errands.

This skort is so popular, you can literally google “zara skort” and a variety of pictures of different women and styles are displayed!  Of course, my legs don’t quite look like the stems on the models… but hey, I am still rockin’ it!

Eye of the Tiger

| Wearing: | Top - H&M | Jeans - Express | Watch - Michael Kors c/o Fifth Avenue Jewelrs | Bracelets - Aldo and Stella & Dot | Rings - Jewelmint, Nasty Gal, and Stella & Dot |

Straight from the jungle… animal face prints are all the rage right now. Embellished across chests, woven into knits and strewn across bags and accessories, you must have seen them by now.   Animal motifs have taken over the print trend for spring/summer.

I love this fun blouse I picked up from H&M.  It’s different from your typical animal print… it is literally the face of an animal.  It can be worn a million ways, is light and flowy, and hey, it’s got a tiger face on the front – enough said.

Happy Hump Day!

HATS off to You!

| Wearing | Top - Top Shop | Pants - Joe Fresh | Hat - Top Shop | Shoes - ASOS | Watch - Michael Kors c/o Fifth Avenue Jewellers | Rings - Jewelmint, Nasty Gal and Stella&Dot |

Today’s outfit choice is very simple and casual, a look that is a suitable if you want something low key but also very fashionable and trendy. I found these amazing leather-embellished pants at Joe Fresh and paired them with a statement tee with a phrase I find so suiting.  It seems like women spend so much time trying to look perfect or be perfect that we forget what fashion and personal expression is all about.  Perfection IS overrated and not obtainable.  Natural beauty and loving you for you is what life and fashion should really be about.  I dress, not to impress, but because I am literally obsessed with fashion, style and trends.

I accessorized this look with my favorite new hat from Top shop, lots of rings, and of course a large statement watch!   Fedoras have really made a big appearance in the fashion scene. They can transform the simplest of outfits from being just plain boring to being right on trend.  The reincarnation of the felt fedora is a fresh take on a familiar item and one that will, no doubt, become seasonless.  I love the hippie chic feeling I get when I wear this hat and the compliments seem to be endless – hey, who doesn’t love being showered with compliments.  They don’t need to know that this fabulous hat is masking a horrible hair day right?

MY Party Dress

| Wearing | Dress - Top Shop | Shoes - Steve Madden | Necklaces - gifted | Rings - Jewelmint and Nasty Gal | Lips - Fifth Ave Fuchsia by Cover Girl |

It’s my party and I will wear whatever I want…. Okay, in all seriousness though, we all like to look and feel fabulous on our day of birth.  If you are like myself and aren’t into the big celebrations, it’s still fun to get glammed, wear your brightest lip color, and go for a cocktail or two.
There is hardly any girl who does not spend a lot of time deciding what clothes to wear to any old party, let alone your birthday celebration. Naturally, one wants to look perfect and steal the spotlight.  I fell in love with this dress the first time I saw it.  It reminded me of Carrie Bradshaw when she gallivanted around it in Paris.  Crinoline isn’t just for wedding gowns and ballerina recitals.  It was love at first sight and when I saw it, I knew I had to have it.  The classic color combination may be the biggest trend seen for 2013. Black and white color blocking is everywhere and I especially love how easy it is to incorporate into my own personal style.
You can't go wrong wearing black and white this season as monochrome rules the runway and street way in almost every trend.  Play around and be creative… try it with crinoline, jean, sequins… the sky is the limit.
