Think PINK

| Wearing Nasty Gal blouse | H&M shorts | Elizabeth Brady shorts | ASOS bracelets | Silpada rings |

Shorts and a front tuck blouse – shocking.  Is my style becoming predictable…. Uh oh time to switch it up.  I just love these hot pink shorts.  I love the material, the length and detailing at the bottom.  They are the type of material that you could throw in a suitcase, unfolded, unpack and they are ready to wear.

I am not normally the matchy matchy type, but I finished off the outfit with a pair of pink suede pumps and I think it looks very put together.  This is a casual, yet chic look for a lunch with friends or a glass of wine on the town.

Find your perfect pair of shorts and begin building outfits.  You will not be disappointed.  It’s that time of year where all the fabulous summer staples are on sale!!

BLUE Nasty

| Wearing Abercrombie shorts | Nasty Gal shorts | Jessica Simpson shoes | Michael Kors watch | Stella & Dot bracelets | Nasty Gal and Style Mint rings |

These are by far my favorite pair of shorts in my wardrobe.  They are so versatile and I have worn them time and time again.  They go with everything and can be worn in so many ways to different events or nights out with friends.  I always pair my shorter dress shorts with sky high heels because it helps create the allusion that my legs are longer and thinner than they actually are!

I paired them with my all-time favorite tank top from Nasty Gal.  I am infamous for rocking the front tuck.  It helps give some shape to my otherwise over-sized wardrobe.  I love the color and style of this tank, it really a different piece.  I was daring and went braless… because there isn’t really a bra that would work with the spaghetti racer-back straps or plunging front.  This definitely isn’t an every tank but it’s a fun way to add a little sex appeal to an otherwise plain outfit.  I really am taking advantage of every last ounce of sunshine before the layering begins.

A BLUE Thursday

(The love of my life)
| Wearing Aritzia top | Aritzia shorts | ASOS shoes | Michael Kors watch | Stella & Dot bracelets | Jewelmint and Nasty Gal rings |

Instead of choosing the same dresses and skirts for office-wear, I have totally been turning to stylish evening shorts to dazzle downtown with fashion know-how; or at least attempt. So as any good fashionista would do, I are taking notes and adding these fabulous new staples to our wardrobes – these shorts are beyond versatile.

It’s true that a good pair of perfectly aligned/draped dress shorts is going to cost a fair bit of money (with such little material necessary to make), but keep in mind that these shorts are not a fleeting trend and will be used many times over and in SO many different ways. Black, gray, blue, beige with a hint of shine or texture will help push them to last through winter.   Pair with thick tights, a blouse and a cardigan or blazer and you can ride out this trend all throughout the cold winter months!

If you are still rocking a bare leg, the focus is all about the legs so choose a pair of amazing heels. My current favorite is this fabulous pair of caged wedge platforms from ASOS. A simple top with embellishment works best and looks great when peeking out from underneath a boyfriend style jacket (which I left out because it was too warm). Keep your jewelry to a minimum and grab a statement clutch and BOLD watch on your way out the door to transition this outfit into evening-appropriate.

Sunny Sunday

| Wearing Alfred by Aritzia shorts | Urban Outfitters blouse | Jessica Simpson shoes | Nasty Gal and Jewelmint rings | Lia Sophia earrings |

As you can tell, I spent the last sunny weekend wearing my favorite shorts and soaking up the sun.  This outfit combines my two all time favorite trends of the year – lace shorts and sheer blouses.  You can do so much with these adorable little shorts and the blouse can pretty much be worn with or for any occasion.

Sometimes as a blogger it’s hard to take the time to travel around and find different locations for pictures.  These were taken close to home at my father’s shop in Knutsford ranch lands.  Hope your summer was as fashionably fabulous as mine was ;)

High Waist Weekend

| Wearing Aritzia shorts | Urban Outfitters top | Steve Madden shoes | Nixon watch | ASOS bracelets | Silpada rings | House of Harlow sunglasses |

High waisted shorts have slowly been making their way into mainstream fashion. First it was high waisted skirts, then pants, and now it’s hard to walk into a store without seeing a wide array of different length shorts.  I lapped up every last ounce of sun this weekend before the leaves start falling.

At first glance I thought, sure, they look great on skinny little models like Nicole Richie, but with a little creative styling and the right fit, they can work for anyone!  I am quite “quaddy” but I seem to have become quite taken with the latest trends of high waisted and short lace shorts.

Here are a few tips and tricks for rocking a high waiste - whether shorts, skirts or pants.

“High Waisted” is relative. To rock this trend, you don’t need to go out and find a pair that reaches above your belly button. If you have a shorter torso (or a larger bust), go for styles that are cut comfortably over your hip bones, but not all the way up to the smallest part of your waist. Because low-cut styles have been popular for so long, even a mid-rise cut will give you the look of the trend!  That’s how I eased into the style.

Tuck in your shirt. This is a no-brainer, how else would you show off the shorts.

Show some leg – this will help balance out the length of high waisted shorts.  It will elongated your legs and keep you from looking stumpy, if you’re worried about that sort of thing.

Embrace the more mature look. Another way to rock this trend is to go for a dressier look (will be shown in my next post).  Pair your shorts with heels to feel extra elegant.

Consider the top. A tank or simple t-shirt will look chic with high waisted shorts, but pair them with a button-down dress shirt for a Katherine Hepburn aesthetic.

Most importantly, be confident! It takes a bold girl to rock these babies — hold your head up high and let the world know how great you know you look!
